How to do it all! ๐Ÿฅน

Hello Reader!

Have you ever felt there was not enough time in the school day to accomplish all the things? Maybe the better question is, have you ever not felt there wasn't enough time to do all the things we are supposed to get done?

There are a few things about teaching that are really important to me:

  • teach the child not the curriculum
  • dig deep into literacy and numeracy
  • dig deep into the content areas and really learn some cool stuff
  • build a strong classroom community
  • make lessons accessible for all of my students (ie: differentiate)
  • prioritize engagement
  • practice social-emotional skills
  • get home at a decent hour each day
  • feel good enough about what I have planned to sleep like a baby!

There was no way that I was going to be able to accomplish all of that without integrating and differentiating every subject all the time.

But that sounds so complicated!

Well, no actually.

Today's blog post and video are all about the importance of games as a way to differentiate, and the many ways that games support social-emotional skill development. And, of course, the games would reflect the subject area.

Win! Win! Win!

And, for the first time in a while I have some "New Stuff" to share with you. My new "Apples Theme" color-by-number bundle is ready to go, and it has been added to my Year Long Bundle as well.

Color-by-number is such a powerful math center activity all year long, and great for back-to-school formative assessment as well! Check out the color-by-number in my store today!

TL;DR

  • Today's blog post and video are all about the importance of games as a way to differentiate in general and how to integrate social-emotional skills practice all day long every day.
  • I have my new "Apples Theme" color-by-number bundle is ready to go in my store.

Thank you for sharing your time with me today!

Cheers for now!

P.S. Today's photo is from the magnificent Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park just outside of Calgary, Alberta. I love ocean, lake and prairie views, but being in the foothills that lead to the Rocky Mountains will always be the view nearest and dearest to my heart.
